EnCasa Care in the Community

Home health is one of the fastest growing industries in New Mexico and across the country. It employs a large percentage of immigrant women.

Every day for the next 15 years 10,000 Americans will turn 65.  Who will care for New Mexico’s rapidly growing population of elders, and how do we ensure our future caregivers have access to top quality training?

In response, Encuentro has launched certification courses in the areas of Personal Care Assistant and Home Health Aid to support Latino immigrant caregivers to access the training they need in their own language.  Nationally, more than half of home care workers have completed no formal education beyond high school, and immigrants currently make up over 25% of the home health workforce.

Through its program Encuentro is graduating 48 highly trained caregivers every year and supporting them to enter the workforce. Students who successfully complete the 90-hour course receive certificates for Personal Care Attendant and Home Health Aide, as well as being a certified CPR provider, and can go on to take courses in senior nutrition, small business development and other continuing education topics.  As follow up to this course, Encuentro students will also have the opportunity to enroll in courses specific to small business development and ESL for the Home Health field. New Mexico’s elders are a treasure in our community and deserve the highest quality care available.

Encuentro’s mission is to ensure dignified care is available to families, and dignified work opportunities are available to hardworking caregivers.  By providing home health care workers opportunities to build skills and gain employment that provides a decent wage to support themselves and their families, Encuentro helps our graduates to be successful in this field and have positive experiences. Our goal at EnCasa Care is to promote dignity, justice and a healthy community for your loved ones and caregivers alike.
